Excuses, excuses.

So I feel like I usually start my posts out by talking about what a terrible blogger I am and how busy I've been lately...and I'm going to continue that tradition this time, too!

First off, I got my first "real" job! I'm working at a beautiful little consignment shop in my town run by the most amazing woman. I've only gone to two  days of training so far, but I can already tell that I'm going to love it! I've gotten to meet some amazing women, I'll be working with clothing, which I (obviously) love; I even get to do window displays! I feel so lucky to have had such wonderful luck with a first job.

Next, on the 18th of last month, Josh and two of our best friends went on a two week long road trip to Northern California on our own, and let me tell you...it was amazing! I don't think I can give it justice in this little paragraph, but I took about a billion pictures, so I was thinking I would do several posts dedicated to it if that wouldn't bother you folks. We saw so many beautiful things, and I would really love to share them.

I got back on Monday, and since then it's been pretty nonstop. My graduation party is tomorrow evening, and we've been baking and cleaning and setting up like crazy! Seriously. My mom and I made something like 220 cake pops in the last two days, and I'm exhausted. The party is going to have an old time circus/carnival theme, so we're having things like corn dogs, soft pretzels, and tons of different kinds of sweets. It's basically a little kids' dream! I'm just a bit worried about talking to all the people my parents have invited that I don't even know. I'm sure it'll turn out fine, but I just hope my shyness doesn't get the better of me. Wish me luck?

I know I also say this all the time, but you should be seeing me around the blogosphere much more soon!

Love you guys,

Victoria

Hi there. Remember me?

Hey everyone!

So I think it goes without saying that I've been absent from the blogging world for quite some time now. Between school, friends, family, birthdays, graduation, laziness, and just about everything else, I haven't have a whole lot of time or willpower to post much. But as it is now officially summer (!), you'll be seeing a lot more of me! I've missed blogging a lot.

The lovely people at Sugarlips Apparel contacted me a while ago asking if I would be interested in working with them, and I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity so I (obviously) said yes! I had such a hard time choosing, but I finally picked the "Let's Rendezvous" dress. It has such a wonderful summer carnival-y feel to it, but I still feel like I'll be able to wear it when it gets cold again. Not to mention it's super comfortable!

It's getting pretty late now, so I'd better get going to bed, but I just wanted you all to know how grateful I am to have you, and how excited I am to start interacting with all of you more again. Seriously.

Love you,

Vic

Bright Spots

So it only took me...what, 3 weeks to post these pictures? What a sad little blogger I am

These were taken on one of the first (almost) warm days of the year, and the weather's been pretty bipolar since then. We've had the biggest snowstorm of the year, beautiful sunshine, and crazy knock-you-over wind. It is getting warmer overall, though, and I can't wait until the nice weather is here on a more permanent basis.

On another note, have you all seen The Hunger Games yet? I went to the midnight premiere on Thursday with Josh, and I LOVED it! I haven't read any of the books yet, so I obviously can't compare the two, but it was honestly so much better than I expected it to be. In fact, I might even go see it again with my parents!

What did you guys think about it?

One last thing. As you can tell, I don't post all that often on this poor blog. I think the biggest part of that is that I tend to have a hard time staying motivated. Not just with blogging, but with a lot of things in my life. And I know that my lack of motivation really hinders me from growing as much as I would like to. Do any of you have any methods of getting/staying motivated? I would appreciate them very, very much.

Love,
Victoria

Little Bird Blue Vintage 1 Year Anniversary

Today marks my shop's one year anniversary, guys!

(I technically had my shop on Ebay for about a year before that, but after making the switch to Etsy, I will never ever look back.)

Thank you all for the wonderful support you've given me and my little shop. I really do feel like buying and selling vintage could be a lifelong thing for me, and I love having started on it early. I know it's not much yet, but I really am so happy to be doing what I'm doing. So in honor of Little Bird Blue Vintage's first birthday, I'll be having a few surprises throughout the week - starting with 35% off anything in the anything in the shop!

Check it out here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleBirdBlueVM

See you guys soon!

Polar Bears and Saturday

A few weeks ago, my mom and I were going through some bags of old clothes from our storage unit to get rid of, and I came across this amazing polar bear sweater that I had almost forgot about! It had been my Grandma's, but she had given it to my older brother when we were little. I don't remember him ever wearing it much, but I definitely will! I love things that remind me of my Grandma, she was such a cute, sweet woman. She died two years ago about a week ago and I think I've been subconsciously wearing things that either were hers or make me think of her. Like this clock necklace! I think I've worn it almost every day for about a week and in my last two posts.

I'm so happy that it's finally the weekend! (Though I'm not sure why I say finally, the week actually seems to have gone by pretty fast.) Today I'll be trying to get myself to get off my lazy butt and get some shop listings up and bake a cake for my friend's late birthday party that's this evening. Cross your fingers for me that I won't fail in my quest!

Plant me in your marrow, stuff me in your bones.

The new lens that I mentioned in my last post is already one of the best investments ever! It's the Canon 50mm f/1.8, and I just love it so much! I'd been feeling pretty down about my outfit pictures, so I hadn't really wanted to take any (hence my ridiculous absence), but now I kind of can't wait! So to put it simply, I definitely recommend it!

I also really recommend this dress! It's from a really cool website called DailyLook. I saw it on Jenn from ClothesEncounters in her Valentine's Day video, and I ended up ordering it later that day because I loved it so much. I'm not entirely sure how, but I actually ended up getting a $17-ish dollar discount on it, too!

For the past few weeks, I've pretty much just been going to school, reading, knitting (I just learned how!), and just generally trying to enjoy things as they come. It's ridiculous how fast my last year of high school is coming to an end. I've been trying to really let the memories of these days sink into my memory, because I know that things will change before I realize they'd even started to. I'll miss this little ranch so much when I'm gone.

Lastly, this guy has very quickly become one of my favorite musicians. And I'm not even taking his amazing beard into account.
