"the first week of august is motionless"

Outfit Details:
"La Lune" Tank - c/o OASAP
Sage Green Midi Skirt - Thrifted

A couple of days ago my friend Jesse showed me this amazing spot near his house that overlooks our entire town. I live in the valley so I very rarely see this sort of view, much less on a beautiful, overcast day with lightning and rain showers in the distance. I'll be going back to school in about a week and a half, and although Albuquerque isn't the biggest of cities it definitely is much harder to find the same sort of peace there that comes so naturally in this little town. It's wonderful to know that I'll always have this to come home to.

All that being said though, I have this terrible habit of leaving my tripod either at home or in the car when I need it the most, making it so that I either have to go without any pictures (of me) or ask someone else to take them. This time I went for the latter option as I was wearing an outfit that I quite liked (a new shirt from OASAP and a skirt that I thrifted earlier in the summer that I'm in love with) and Jesse was willing to do it. Now this wouldn't be such a problem if I weren't so damn awkward when other people point the camera at me. It's bad enough when I take pictures of myself, by myself, but with other people it's just so much worse. I don't understand how you all look so natural when other people photograph you, but I applaud you! Luckily though, he was able to catch me mostly off guard while taking these and they came out beautifully, so thank you so much if you're reading this, Jessifer!

I hope you all are having a beautiful tail end of summer, and if you have any tips on not being a total goof in pictures please let me know!

A Quiet Place

Outfit Details:
Motel Crop Top - PLNDR
Embroidered Midi Skirt - Mom's Old
Nude Flats - Urban Outfitters

There have been a few tough things happening in the past couple of weeks, but having such beautiful places that I can go to be alone has always been a huge comfort. There's really no medicine quite like rainy summer days in a place that you love.

P.S. I did a bit of vlogging this past weekend (we went to a Dessa concert and played the Game of Thrones board game mostly), so if you'd care to see a bit more of my life than I'm apparently capable of writing, then take a look!

So surprise surprise, I have yet another super belated post to share! These photos were taken on my birthday which was oh, you know, about two months ago. My timeliness has obviously not improved at all with the start of summer.

Josh and I had set off at around six this morning to go on a little birthday adventure, so I didn't wear anything particularly special - just something easy and comfortable, which is exactly what the day called for. Our first stop (and the only one I got any pictures of) was Echo Amphitheater. It was so much bigger in person than it looks in pictures, but the name is apt and Josh took advantage of it by humming the Game of Thrones theme song and singing Happy Birthday to me when I went to grab my tripod from the car. I have a little video clip of it (which is ADORABLE), but I might meet with some Game of Thrones style justice if I put it on the internet and Josh found out.

Oh! I'm not sure how well you can tell, but right before the 6th picture was taken a HUGE chunk of rock from the ceiling of the amphitheater fell and scared the living shit (please excuse the language) out of me. The sound it made was SO loud and you can still see a bit of the dust it kicked up in that picture.

Nature is nuts.

Carpe Mañana

Leather Bomber Jacket: Goodwill
Sail Seattle Sweatshirt: Goodwill
Fox Purse: Target
Brown Ankle Boots: Thrifted

So I know it's nothing to brag about, but I took these pictures when I was home on Saturday, which means they've been sitting on my memory card/computer for less than a week - which is pretty good for me. Especially considering that I have TONS of pictures and outfits from the summer and even earlier that I still haven't posted here (or even edited) yet. It's a terrible, stupid habit but I just can't seem to make myself get off my butt and do something with the pictures I take in a timely fashion. I even ended up losing the majority of the pictures from the first road trip I'd ever been on with just friends because I kept putting of editing or even transferring the photos, then lost the memory card. I guess a lot of that comes down to a lack of motivation. I've talked about this on here before, but for the longest time I've had serious problems with doing things on time, finishing the things that I start, updating things regularly - you name it. I constantly have all these plans and ideas and good intentions in my head that I fully intend to accomplish, but something always seems to get in the way, and I suppose that that thing's usually just me.

I think the very New Mexican saying "Carpe Mañana" or "seize tomorrow" somewhat unfortunately sums this whole thing up pretty well.

But I think all this talk about a lack of motivation is also just my way of continuing it. It's 11:30, I have about a million pages of reading to do before my 9:30 am history class tomorrow, and I have yet to do any of it. So wish me luck, and if anyone has any experience with this or knows something that might help, even a little bit, I would be very, very grateful.

Have a wonderful day!

Love,

Victoria
